Goofy

Goofy played an extremely minor role in Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep.

About ten years later, at the start of Kingdom Hearts, everything had appeared as peaceful as it always was and he was napping in the courtyard when he was struck by a Thunder spell from an irate Donald. Not immediately aware anything was amiss, he greeted the wizard cheerfully before noticing the queen and Daisy behind Donald, who was going on about a secret emergency...which was of course overheard.

Later in the king's study, Donald revealed the letter left by the king. The stars were blinking out one at a time, and Mickey had gone to find out what was happening in the worlds. He was trusting Donald and Goofy to find the "key" to their survival and stick with him. Queen Minnie assigned Jiminy Cricket to join them on their quest to chronicle the adventure. As they made their way to the gummi hangar, they learned that Jiminy's world had disappeared and he was possibly the only one to escape to the castle. Donald reminded him that they had to maintain world order by keeping the existence of other worlds a secret and they set off in their gummi ship for Traverse Town to find Leon.

After arriving in Traverse Town and getting a change of clothes to draw less attention, Goofy happened to spot a star going out. They started to search for Leon, but when Pluto began to take a different route Goofy wondered if they should be following him. Donald blew him off though, and they kept looking, eventually meeting Aerith in the alley behind the hotel. Inside the hotel she explained a bit more about the worlds and the Heartless, Ansem and his reports, and the Keyblade they were looking for. Then, as they were going to meet Leon, the door crashed open and Yuffie ran past. Aerith followed, leaving Donald and Goofy on their own.

They found their way to a balcony in the Third District, where Goofy spotted a kid running into the area alone. He and Donald were attacked by a pair of Soldier Heartless and blasted from the balcony, landing right on the boy Goofy had just seen...who had the Keyblade. Before that could be properly addressed, they were attacked by more Soldiers and then the Guard Armor. They were able to work together and defeat the tough opponent, and then convinced Sora to travel with them via Donald telling Sora that they'd definitely find his friends. Bidding Leon and the others farewell, they boarded the gummi ship and set off for other worlds, ending up first in Wonderland, Olympus Colosseum, and Deep Jungle.

In Woonderland, they followed a white rabbit to a trial where Alice was about to lose her head due to accusations that she'd tried to steal the Queen's heart. He and Donald were reluctant to interfere since they weren't supposed to meddle in other worlds' affairs, but Sora jumped right in and the Queen ultimately locked Alice up and ordered them to bring proof Alice was innocent...or they'd all lose their heads.

They began in Lotus Forest, where a strange Cheshire Cat gave them a bit of help in finding the evidence they needed. Popping up all over the place he always seemed to know what they needed to do, and even warned them a bit that the evidence wouldn't mean Alice's freedom, hinting the Queen of Hearts might find them guilty instead...which was exactly what happened. In the resulting skirmish, Alice was taken and then the search for her followed. Again the Cheshire Cat appeared to provide some dubious help to find the "shadows" running loose in Wonderland, eventually leading them to the Trick Master. They defeated the towering Heartless, but Alice was long gone. Before leaving they found a strange Keyhole within the talking doorknob's mouth, which the Keyblade locked and caused a strange gummi to appear.

In the Olympus Colosseum, Sora and Donald were determined to prove themselves true heroes and tried to gain entrance into the games, but Phil wouldn't let them. A stranger provided them with an entry pass though and they entered the preliminaries, where they fought through many Heartless and eventually Cloud in the final round. That match was interrupted when Cerberus attacked, crushing Cloud, and they were saved by Hercules. When Phil expressed the concerned that Herc might be beaten, they returned to help him and managed to defeat Cerberus, earning the title of "Junior Heroes" and full rights to enter the games...though they were on hold as the arena needed to be cleaned up, so the friends continued on but would be back to enter the games when they reopened.

They reached Deep Jungle, but believing the King wouldn't be there Donald didn't want to land even to look for Sora's friends. This resulted in a fight, the crash of the ship, and them being separated from Sora. In the jungle they encountered a gorilla holding a gummi block, and then Clayton, who took them back to his campsite. There they were reunited with Sora, but sour feelings still lingered between Donald and Sora. Still they needed to work together to see if any of their friends were there, and that started with trying to learn the word Tarzan used regarding Sora's friends, using slides in a projector.

When none of the slides helped, Clayton insisted that they must be with the gorillas and if Tarzan wasn't hiding their friends he would take them to the gorillas. Tarzan agreed to go see Kerchak and led them to the Vines, but Kerchak apparently was uninterested in helping because he was distracted by something else. Investigating the tree led them to stopping Clayton from shooting the same gorilla that had dropped the gummi earlier...but Kerchak had seen the attempt and it ruined their chances.

Back at the tent, Clayton was forbidden to approach the gorillas again. Moments after he left a gunshot was heard, and the camp was full of Heartless harassing a gorilla. They saved it and several more but didn't find Clayton, and upon exiting the camp tent again, a gunshot was heard in the Bamboo Thicket. Going to look, they found Clayton's pipe and were attacked by Sabor the leopard. Finding Jane missing from the tent, they found and rescued her , learning that Clayton had rounded up all the gorillas near the cliffs.

Upon confronting him, he summoned a Stealth Sneak Heartless to help him fight, but they defeated him and he was consequently killed when the Heartless crushed him. Afterward, Kerchak allowed them to access the nesting grounds. They learned Tarzan was trying to tell them that friends were in the heart. Sora and Donald made up and Sora sealed the Keyhole and they got another strange gummi. Bidding their new friends goodbye, they returned to the gummi ship.

Not knowing what the gummi did, they decided to ask Leon in Traverse Town. They learned a bit about the Keyholes and that the Heartless sought them to reach the worlds' hearts, but Leon directed them to Cid in the Accessory Shop for help with the gummi. He offered to install the gummi, a navigation one that gave access to new worlds, but asked them to deliver a book to a house in the Third District for him in the meantime. In the appointed house, they met Merlin the wizard, who was sent by the King to teach Sora magic.

Leaving Merlin, they encountered Sora's friend, Riku, who had escaped the island as well. After a brief reunion, and Donald's refusal to let Riku join, he vanished, leaving them to go meet Cid and the others. There they learned a bit about Maleficent and her ties to the Heartless, then were pointed in the direction of the Gizmo Shop bell. Ringing it three times revealed Traverse Town's Keyhole, but they were attacked by the Opposite Armor Heartless before Sora could seal it and had to defeat it first.

With the navigation gummi installed, they departed again, able to venture further to Agrabah, Atlantica, Halloween Town, and Neverland.

In Agrabah, they encountered Jasmine, a princess who was attempting to hide from the evil vizier, Jafar. Jafar had taken over the city and was searching for the Keyhole, and found them, but Sora told Jasmine to run. After defeating the Heartless summoned, they explored the city until they found a magic carpet pinned under a crate in a house. When they freed it, it flew off to the desert and then took them to the Cave of Wonders where they saved Aladdin from Heartless. When more showed up, Aladdin used a magic lamp to summon Genie and dismiss them. After a brief conversation they remembered that Jasmine was in danger and returned to Agrabah with Aladdin.

Despite their attempts and defeating the Pot Centipede Heartless, Jafar escaped to the desert with both Jasmine and the lamp. The entrance to the Cave of Wonders was possessed by darkness and they had to defeat it before they could enter. They found Jafar deep inside and defeated him, but he wished to become a genie and so they had to defeat him again, sealing him in the lamp he was bound to. Jasmine had disappeared by then and after Sora sealed the Keyhole the Cave began to collapse so they had to escape. Aladdin freed Genie, asking him to go with Sora to look for Jasmine.

While traveling between worlds, the gummi ship was swallowed by the giant whale, Monstro. Inside, they found Pinocchio and Geppetto, who were trying to find a way to escape. Pinocchio wandered off, and when they went to find him, Riku showed up, challenging Sora to catch him and Pinocchio if he wanted to hear about Kairi, his other friend. They followed the pair deep into Monstro, where Pinocchio was captured by the Parasite Cage. They worked with Riku to free him, but then Riku took the puppet to help him.

Following him to the belly of the whale, they rescued Pinocchio. The Parasite Cage returned and Riku disappeared. The fight upset Monstro's stomach and he expelled everyone, including Pinocchio and Geppetto.

In Halloween Town, they met Jack Skellington and the Professor, who were attempting to get the Heartless to dance for Halloween, after tailing Jack. Sora wanted to see the Heartless dance, so they helped to build a "heart" for the guidance system that somewhat controlled them. When the incomplete system glitched they became aggressive, and they had to fight them on the way to find Sally to get memory for the heart and then to the Mayor to get surprise.

Lock, Shock, and Barrel swiped the completed heart, so they were forced to chase the trio to Oogie Boogie's manor. They were too late though, because the heart had been delivered by the time that they confronted the three. They traveled beneath the manor to fight Oogie, but he consumed the heart first and tried to use Heartless against him. It was a failure and they defeated him, but he then possessed the entire building and they were forced to destroy the darkness letting him do so to take him out for good. Afterward Sora sealed the keyhole that appeared and they returned to the lab. Jack decided to postpone the Heartless Halloween but invited them to visit again anytime.

While they were continuing on, a massive pirate ship captured them. Donald and Goofy were immediately thrown into the hold, and when Sora was finally literally dropped in on them he told them that he had seen Kairi. They met Peter Pan as they were trying to escape and worked with him to find both Kairi and his friend Wendy. Because Goofy asked about it Pan gave them the power of flight, but he eventually left them to take Wendy to safety after Kairi was taken away by Riku and they had to fight a shadow Sora.

They were confronted by Captain Hook, who had captured tinker Bell. Sora finally mastered the ability to fly as he was being forced to walk the plank. Pan also returned to help them and after they got rid of a bunch of Heartless, they tricked Hook out of hiding and defeated him. Goofy was concerned about the fact that Kairi's heart might have been lost, but Donald made him keep quiet about it and they said goodbye to Pan and Wendy after sealing the clocktower's keyhole. Having found a new navigation gummi, they returned to Traverse Town to have it installed.

Sora was starting to feel down so Goofy tried to remind him to keep his spirits up. When asked if they weren't worried about the King, Goofy said that they'd been told to find the keybearer and had found him, so that if they stuck together things would work out fine. Goofy was also the one to suggest revisiting some worlds before they rushed off into the unknown, likely because Cid warned them that their destination was crawling with Heartless.

When they finally arrived at Hollow Bastion, they heard a roar and soon found Riku about to deal the final blow to the Beast. When Sora confronted him, Riku belittled him and revealed that he was really the keyblade wielder and claimed Sora's Keyblade. Because they were obligated, Goofy and Donald left Sora to follow him, but Goofy had reservations about just abandoning Sora even to carry out the mission. When Riku attacked Sora when he came after them, Goofy didn't hesitate to defend Sora because of their friendship and when asked stated that he wouldn't betray the king but wouldn't betray Sora either. He asked Donald to apologize for him, but Donald decided they would together. Their friendship and Sora's resolve reclaimed the Keyblade and they defeated Riku, forcing him to retreat.

They fought their way through the castle to the chapel and were confronted by Maleficent. They were able to force her to retreat and gave chase, finding riku with his own Keyblade which he used to unlock the darkness in Maleficent's heart, transforming her into a black dragon to fight them. Once she was defeated he reappeared just long enough to confirm she had been taken by the darkness. they followed him to the keyhole but Goofy walked into a magic barrier and was knocked out. He recovered just after the fight, but suggested they wake Kairi up when the incomplete keyhole couldn't be sealed. He was horrified when Sora used the dark keyblade to unlock his heart and free Kairi's.

Ansem appeared to them, and while neither of them was sure that they could take him, they were determined to try and protect Kairi. Riku refused to let his body be used to hurt Kairi and warned them to escape the oncoming Heartless. Goofy was concerned about the keyhole but they had no choice but to run. A Heartless caught up to them and Donald tried to make it go away, but Kairi recognized it as Sora. A bunch more appeared and Donald and Goofy tried to fight them off, but Kairi and Sora's Heartless were engulfed. Sora was able to regain his form though, and the Beast helped them escape.

Returning to traverse Town, the told Leon what had happened and it was decided they had to try to seal the keyhole even though none of them knew what would happen. Cid told them where to find a new navigation gummi and after a rest they set out for Hollow Bastion again.

They found the beast outside the castle and learned that for some reason the princesses had stayed inside. They decided to go find out why and ventured back in to ask. they found out that the princesses were holding back the darkness as best as they could, and that Ansem had disappeared into the darkness. After defeating the massive Heartless guarding the keyhole, the were addressed by Leon and the others who had come to see their home world. They had also made sure to be there to say goodbye, because once Ansem was defeated the world would be isolated again and travel would be impossible.

Once the keyhole was sealed, the princesses told them that a new darkness was forming elsewhere and Ansem must have been there. They set off immediately and found what was left of the worlds the Heartless had consumed. Sora was a little uncertain what would happen to it and them if the world's were restored, but Goofy was positive that they would be just fine.

They fought their way to the place resembling Destiny Islands, and confronted Ansem. But after the first round Donald and Goofy were blocked out by a barrier and could only watch for a time. They found themselves deep in the darkness at the door to the deepest darkness. Goofy and Donald were consumed by the giant Heartless and later released by Sora, starting with Goofy. Together they were able to defeat Ansem with the help of light from beyond the door.

Heartless spawned from the darkness beyond the door as they triedto close it, but riku and King Mickey were on the other side to help them close and lock it. Because Goofy had faith in the King, he didn't hesitate in allowing him to be sealed behind it. The worlds were all restored and he continued to travel with his friends in search of a way to Riku and the King. They eventually spotted Pluto on the road, with an envelope bearing the King's seal and ran after him, but they lost him.

Eventually they came to a castle and everyone, including Jiminy, felt like they'd find their friends there. inside, a hooded figure approached them and explained the castle before encouraging Sora to seek out Riku within, Goofy's role throughout the story is fairly minor overall, but the whole time he tried to be the voice of reason and reassurance despite them not really understanding the extent of the situation.

After traveling through an illusion of Traverse Town and meeting illusions of their friends who didn't know them but were affected by the bond they had, they met Axel on the way to the second floor and after fighting him received the next cards they needed to proceed further. He left them on a cryptic note that when Sora found his deepest memories he might not b himself anymore, something that bothered Jiminy greatly. Sora was positive that they would be fine together, and Goofy agreed since it wasn't unlike their time in Hollow Bastion...though neither Donald nor Sora remembered the castle period and Goofy couldn't remember the name of it. This would bother him for awhile.

After visiting the next illusion world, Goofy brought up the castle again, stressing the importance because it was when Sora used the dark keyblade on himself and vanished. When they consulted the journal for clues, it turned out that the journal had somehow been erased. As they realized the fact was their memories were vanishing, Donald and Sora began to get nervous but Goofy remained confident no matter what else they forgot they would remember their friends. With that reassuring thought they continued to the next world.

The next floor, Donald wondered if they'd forgotten anything more. Goofy couldn't think of anything but wasn't worried because while he might have it must not have been anything important. Sora also remembered that he'd promised to return the good luck charm he'd gotten from Kairi to her. But on the next floor Sora recalled another girl he used to know and had forgotten, but couldn't recall the name of. He recalled more by the next, but still not her name, and Goofy was left to wonder why only Sora was unlocking old memories when he and the others weren't.

The next floor, they were confronted by Larxene, who was baiting Sora into remembering the name of the girl he'd remembered. She attacked him and forced him to drop a good luck charm the girl had given him, then threatened to smash it, provoking Sora to attack her. Goofy, Donald, and Jiminy were concerned by the anger that Sora was showing, and he and Goofy were concerned for Sora and the rush he was in to save his friend.

On the next floor, Sora was intercepted by Riku who said some hurtful things and attacked him. After the fight they tried to follow and lost him. Even though they became worried that this might mean Mickey was in danger, the three of them tried to encourage Sora and reassure him that something might be up but there was no way that Riku wasn't his friend anymore. They also reminded him of the fact that they had agreed to always remember to smile.

They didn't see Riku on the next floor, but the one after that they met and fought Vexen, who claimed to have been the one to bring Riku to the castle. he provided Sora with a card from the memories of the other side of his heart, which took them to a town Sora had never been to but started to feel was familiar in a strange way. Vexen appeared to them again and they fought, but as he was telling Sora about Marluxia and Namine, Axel appeared and eliminated him.

As they moved towards the next floor, Riku appeared again and forced Sora into a fight. He left behind a charm identical to the one Sora had received from Namine, which turned into a card when Sora picked it up. Donald and Goofy were concerned because Sora and Riku had the same charm and memory even though there was no way they could both be right. When they expressed their concern to Sora though, he became angry and defensive thinking they didn't believe him and wanted him to abandon Namine. He told them to do what they wanted and then left them behind.

They caught up to Sora as he was at Larxene's mercy and protected him from her, having followed him out of loyalty and the desire to keep him safe. Together they were able to defeat her once and for all. Donald and Goofy had missed out on certain things, so Jiminy asked her to explain. From her they found out that Namine had tampered with their memories because Marluxia had threatened to leave her in the castle alone forever. She offered to fix them on the 13th floor, but Marluxia still was a problem so they left her there to stay safe while they dealt with the danger.

As they proceeded, Sora tried to remember the person most important to him but couldn't. They couldn't either, and this scared Donald. To deal with this Goofy suggested that they make a serious promise to each other, having come to the decision because of Sora that a very important promise could give the courage to face fear. They promised that even if they were scared, in trouble, separated, forgot each other...no matter what happened they would remain friends.

When they found Marluxia he was using Namine as a shield to bait Sora into fighting Axel, who was willing to kill Namine to eliminate him. They challenged Axel first, to remove him as a threat to Namine before moving on to Marluxia himself. Marluxia slipped away during the fight and they had to give chase.

They caught up to him, but Marluxia tried to make Namine erase Sora's memories completely. Sora was willing to let it happen, and even though Goofy was at first alarmed by this, he and Donald soon decided that if Sora forgot they could remember for him. The Riku replica appeared to save Namine, allowing them to fight Marluxia, but he was a fake and they had to enter another chamber to defeat the real thing. Afterward, they sealed the room.

After the Riku replica was shown to apparently be okay with himself they entrusted Namine with restoring their memories even though they would forget her and everything that happened in the castle. After hearing Jiminy promise to write a note in his journal so none of them would forget to thank her for what she was doing, and saying their goodbyes, everyone retired to their sleeping chambers where they would remain for quite some time.

About a year later, the three of them awoke in an old manor in Twilight Town with no memory of the events of Castle Oblivion and no idea where they were. Jiminy's journal had no answers either, as it was blank except for a note to "Thank Namine", which was confusing as they had forgotten her. As they wandered around and metthe people of twilight Town, Hayner and his friends and Seifer and his gang, Sora felt like he knew the town even though they'd never been there. Pence was able to tell them that someone was looking for them though, his description telling them that it was King Mickey.

They went to the train station to find him, but were attacked by strange creatures and not having been active in awhile weren't able to fight them off. Mickey came to their rescue, but couldn't stay long. He only gave them money for a train and told them to catch it before he ran off. Donald and Goofy were relieved to see he was okay, but decided to stay with Sora until he found Riku rather than try to stay with Mickey.

Hayner, Pence, and Olette came to see them off and for some reason saying goodbye to them had made Sora very sad. Goofy reassured him that they could come visit again as they rode the train to what turned out to be Yen Sid's. They found Pete lurking outside of the tower, who Donald and Goofy hadn't seen since he'd been banished, and quickly got past him inside wen he said that he'd sent Heartless inside to turn Yen Sid into a Heartless.

Inside they were able to speak with Yen Sid, who filled them in about the Heartless and Nobodies for the quest they were starting. Afterwards, Sora received some new clothes, a new Keyblade, and his valor form, then the gummi ship was called and they were sent on their way.

They arrived at Hollow Bastion first, which was in the process of being restored by Leon and the others. Oddly, there had been a point that they had forgotten about the three of them, but suddenly remembered which gave them the feeling that they would come back to Hollow Bastion. They hadn't heard anything about Riku or the king, but were willing to help where they could even though they also needed help. Sora, Donald, and Goofy were made honorary members of the restoration committee and started to fill Leon in on what they knew of the situation at the bailey. When Goofy mentioned Organization XII, they appeared and sent a bunch of Nobodies to attack.

when they cleared out the Nobodies the Organization seemed unconcerned, more interested in the Keyblade's power and messing with sora's head before vanishing into darkness. Sora's committee member card then allowed the path to the next worlds to be opened, so they said goodbye to Leon and left for the next two worlds: Land of Dragons and Beast's Castle.

In the Land of Dragons, they met Mulan and Mushu after a slight misunderstanding. Sora and Donald mistook Mushu's shadow for a Heartless and attacked even though Goofy hesitated to attack on impulse. Goofy was also the only one to realize Mulan was a girl. Mushu roped them into helping her out in the imperial army to repay a debt for borrowing his powers on the first adventure. The three of them had no problems getting into the army with their fighting experience, but Mulan had to be vouched for in order to stay.

Once Mulan had proven herself just enough to stay, Mushu came to them with the news that he'd seen the enemy leader, Shan Yu, lurking nearby and the idea to get Mulan noticed by her catching him. The cave was a Heartless ambush though and by the time they escaped and got back the village had been burnt to the ground. They found out from the captain where the enemy went and gave chase, intending to make up for their mistake. Mulan was able to save everyone by using a cannon and Mushu's fire, but no sooner than she was recognized for her bravery, than Mushu accidentally blew her secret. They were all dismissed, but were willing to travel with Mulan to apologize to her father.

As they were leaving, Shan Yu resurfaced and set his sights on the palace, prompting them to try to warn the captain at the palace. He didn't want to listen at first, but was forced to when things went out of his control. The four of them allowed the captain to get to the emperor by wiping out the Heartless, then protected the gate from Shan Yu and defeated him. Afterward, Mulan was recognized as a hero by the emperor. The way to the next world was open and so they continued on.

Not realizing they had found the Beast's castle at first, it was goofy who recognized the familiar roars in the empty castle first. A Heartless led them into an ambush though, but the Beast appeared. He defeated the Heartless, but didn't acknowledge them more than to swat them all aside before taking a rose and leaving. Concerned about their friend, they explored the castle to find Belle and for answers. Belle didn't really know what was wrong with Beast, but she directed them to the dungeon to free his servants since they might.

After the shock of finding out that the servants were enchanted objects, they were led to the west wing by Cogsworth to try and talk to Beast. With his help, they banished the darkness consuming Beast and went with him to see Belle. She was being attacked by a Heartless in the ballroom though so they had to defeat it before their friends could make up. The robed figure that had been manipulating Beast was Xaldin, and Goofy theorized that if he was part of Organization XIII then he was going to turn Beast into a Heartless to get control of his Nobody. Another path opened, so they left.

Once on the ship, they found themselves summoned back to Hollow Bastion. Merlin had called them there because he had found Pooh's book in another district. it seemed that he had noticed that the Heartless were drawn to the book, but want Leon and the others there before fully explaining. While he was gone, Donald allowed Sora to enter the book and visit Pooh even though Goofy wasn't certain it was a good idea. It wasn't, as Heartless attacked soon after. They ran out to protect it, but when Sora joined them he forgot the book and the Heartless nearly escaped with it. They got it back but it was damaged and some pages stolen. Goofy suggested that Sora check on Pooh while and Donald explained things to Merlin. But Pooh didn't remember Sora or any of his friends. Merlin suggested that until the book was restored Leon and the others shouldn't know.

They continued on to the next world and found themselves in the Underworld of the Olympus Colosseum, but had to save a friend of Hercules before anything else. It turned out that she was trying to see Hades about giving Hercules a break, as Herc had been fighting a lot and was reaching his limits. They decided to go for her, but Hades wasn't in a compromising mood and with the Underworld sapping their powers they were forced to flee with the help of a warrior named Auron. They went to the Colosseum and spoke to Herc about how they could keep their powers in the Underworld and he agreed to get them the Olypus stone to help them...not knowing what they had planned. While he was gone, they trained with Phil for a bit, but Phil left somewhere as soon as Herc got back.

Herc returned with the news that the stone had been stolen by someone who fit the description of an Organization member that they had seen flee the Underworld earlier. Meg also seemed to be gone, and it was revealed that Hades had taken her and arranged for Hercules to fight the hydra to keep him from going after her. But the three of them were free to and agreed to handle it for him.

Almost as soon as they reentered the Underworld, they found Phil on the ground, having been ambushed by the Organization member mentioned earlier. Phil had been looking for a backup in case Herc needed a break, and was completely unwilling to even consider them. But as it was they needed to get the stone back and went deeper into the Underworld. The Organization member recognized Sora as someone called Roxas and tried to get him to recognize him before reluctantly starting a fight. They beat him and he retreated, leaving the stone for them to use.

Proceeding forward, they found a lock with Meg's image and Sora opened it so they could go find her. Hades was waiting inside with her and disappeared after thanking them for something. Pete also appeared, attacking with more heartless than they could fight off. Herc arrived to help and they all got out safely, but because of Meg's concern they returned to help Herc beat Pete.

Hades appeared to them again to mock Herc about the arena's safety and they hurried back to find the the Hydra had destroyed everything. With Herc's confidence shattered, it was up to everyone else to defeat it, after which everyone tried to cheer him up before it was time to go. The Olympus Stone opened the path to the next world as Sora was returning it, so they continued on.

The next stop was Disney castle, and while they should have been happyto be home, Donald and Goofy immediately felt as though something was wrong. Chip and dale confirmed this when they came to tell them the castle was in danger and the Queen needed to see them. The castle was overrun with Heartless and Queen Minnie hadn't been able to warn everyone. Donald and Goofy split up to do so, leaving Sora to escort Minnie to the audience chamber where they would meet later.

In the hall of the Cornerstone, they found that sharp thorns were engulfing the room because of Maleficent, who wanted the castle for herself. With no answers for how to fix the situation, Donald and Goofy came to the conclusion that they should go ask Merlin for help. Right away they went to get him, and he transported them all back to the castle to see for himself rather than try and figure out what Donald was explaining. After taking a look at the situation, he summoned a door to a special world. they were allowed to enter after he told them of another door within that needed to be locked and after he warned them against giving in to certain temptations while there.

They arrived in a bland-and-white world that was familiar to him and Donald, and almost immediately they were approached by Pete who seemed to be looking for something. They followed and picked a fight, only to learn he wasn't the Pete they thought he was. To apologize, they agreed to help him track down his missing steamboat. On Cornerstone Hill, they found a screen that showed Heartless disappearing through several doors just before their initial arrival. With no clues, they went through each door to clear out the Heartless, and each time the King was somehow involved. Like Pete he was somehow different. Each time they also found a screen hinting at the identity of the person they were trying to find and stop. From them, Goofy was the first to realize that they were in the past and he was very steadfast in not trying to change the future because he didn't want to break Merlin's trust.

By the time they put all of the pieces together, the Pete that they knew had stolen the Cornerstone of Light and loaded it onto his past self's steamboat. They were able to stop him and lock his door once he was gone. Goofy had to stop Sora from telling Capn' Pete about his future self, but Pete let them use his steamboat to thank them anyway and they returned the Cornerstone to its rightful place. Then he and Sora dragged Donald back to the door and went home. The castle was safe again and the Cornerstone unlocked a new path for them to take.

In Atlantica, they had a simpler problem than most with only an upcoming concert and the fact that Ariel had been distracted by the surface world and a human prince. Ursula tried to take advantage of Ariel again and again they defeated her.

In Port Royal, they found Pete helping some cursed pirates, but in trying to warn the pirates to be careful, Pete accidentally revealed their weakness. Once the ones in their way were dealt with, they headed into town and wound up teaming up with Will Turner, and later Jack Sparrow, who was looking to save Elizabeth from the pirates. They took the Interceptor out to sea and to the pirates' lair. Jack fooled them into staying on the ship, but they got worried and went to help. Will and Elizabeth escaped to them and they delayed the pirates long enough tto let them prepare the ship.

It turned out that will had left Jack behind, and as they sailed back to port the pirates caught up. They were forced to fight, but in the end they got the medallion and Will with Pete's help. Sora, Donald, Goofy, and Jack were tied up below deck and explosives were left on board, but they managed to free themselves and save the ship. Will needed to be rescued so they followed the pirates back to the island and defeated the captain, but Pete escaped again.

In Agrabah Goofy was approached first by Iago and, despite his initial alarm because of Iago's ties to Jafar, he was also the first to feel sorry for him being all alone after trying to become a good guy. He was the first to be willing to help him try to apologize to Aladdin and Jasmine, and the first to acknowledge that Iago, albeit accidentally, saved their lives when they were attacked by Heartless. Iago wasn't able to make good with jasmine, but they learned that something was off with Aladdin and decided to talk to him. First, he had to catch Abu, who had stolen a lamp from a merchant.

The lamp was Jafar's, which they found out from Iago, but the merchant would only trade it for a sultan's treasure. Aladdin didn't want to ask at the palace so they took Iago's suggestion of getting something from the Cave of Wonders. They were able to get a treasure, but when they returned Pete was chasing the merchant for the lamp. Despite Iago's help Pete almost got the lamp, but Genie arrived and accidentally irritated him long enough to make him summon Heartless. When they defeated them, he left and the lamp was safely locked away.

In Halloween Town, Jack was planning to convince Santa to let him do Christmas. He wanted them to come along, which they did even though Donald and goofy were really keen on a Halloween-style Christmas. But when Heartless were present even right outside of Santa's workshop they became determined to protect Christmas. Lock, Shock, and Barrel were spotted lurking in the workshop soon after they met Santa and he asked them to bring the tricksters back for a lecture. Chasing them led to the discovery that Oogie was back.

Things were even worse when Sally came to them with the news that Santa had been kidnapped by Oogie. Right away they hurried back to the workshop to save him. With everyone working together, they freed Santa and again destroyed Oogie.

In the Pride Lands, they were nearly eaten by hyenas before something else required their attention. Goofy helped teach Sora how to move on four legs, having learned a trick to it pretty fast. They saved a lioness from Heartless soon after and Sora offered their help against King Scar. Rafiki said that Sora couldn't be the one to help and they were cornered by the hyenas again when they tried to leave. Scar appeared with Pete and would have had them killed, but they escaped with Nala.

When she told them about Simba, who everyone believed was dead, they told her about having seen him recently and offered to help find him. They traveled far out of the Pride Lands and found him in a jungle. They weren't able to convince him to reclaim his kingdom, but something else did and they went back on his request to help him. Simba defeated Scar, but the tyrant came back as a Heartless and they worked together to defeat him again.

No sooner than they got back to Twilight Town, than they had to clear out some Nobodies hassling Seifer's gang in the Sandlot. An Organization member appeared to ask if they'd encountered someone named Axel, which they hadn't, and left after several insincere mentions of not wanting anything to happen to Sora. Pence found them there and asked if they knew Kairi. He led them to the station, where they learned that she had been there but an Organization member that Goofy suspected was Axel had taken her.

As they left Twilight Town, Chip and Dale noticed that hollow Bastion was covered in darkness. When they went to investigate, there were a lot more Heartless and Nobodies were back as well. Checking on their friends revealed that Ansem's computer was found in the castle, which could possibly have given them some answers. King Mickey had also arrived, though he wasn't there when they first went to see the computer. Because of a small blue alien, and consequently donald, the three of them were zapped inside the computer by the Master Control Program and arrested. They teamed up with another program called Tron to escape and power up a terminal to get them back to the castle. All he asked was for them to find Ansem's password for him.

After some searching, and some help via King Mickey's timely arrival, they had the password and reentered the computer. tron was gone and Goofy thought to use the terminal to find him, but it transported them to the game Grid before he even touched anything. They escaped and found Tron, then helped his access the data he needed.The MCP also tried to access the data, but Tron changed the password to keep it from being able to destroy Hollow Bastion. They then hurried to stop it and protect the town.

Once the attack was stopped, tron sent them back to the castle with a new password, which they gave Leon. Leon went to check on the town, leaving them to start looking at the data. After only managing to pull up an old man's picture, they were surprised to learn from Mickey that it was the real Ansem and that they had beaten was not only an imposter but a Heartless. This prompted Goofy to wonder if there was a Nobody of the imposter too, and Mickey confirmed it even though he couldn't remember much about him. They also learned he couldn't help them with Riku's location, though on hearing Kairi was kidnapped volunteered to help find her.

Before more could be said, an explosion shook the castle. They went to investigate and were attacked by Heartless and Nobodies. They followed the King to the bailey, but he told them to go find Riku and Kairi. Largely because of Sora, he and Donald decided not to follow this order because their friends needed them here and they ran into battle.

They were briefly delayed by the same Organization member from the Underworld, but they defeated him. This gave Mickey time to catch them, though he didn't scold them for disobeying his orders but instead encouraged them to hurry and help. As they were leaving Goofy noticed a large rock get launched and shoved his king aside, but took the rock to the head and was knocked out. He came to soon enough and caught up to the others, but was confused by the amount of worry they showed since getting hit on the head was nothing new.

The leader of Organization XIII appeared on the battlefield, a man named Xehanort originally, and Mickey went after him. Before they could follow they were swarmed by countless Heartless and had to separate to destroy them all quickly. When they caught up, they received no answers before Mickey tried to stop him by following him into the darkness. Axel appeared and told them they were playing into the Organization's hands, but before they could get anything from him the Nobody from Twilight Town appeared and he retreated.

The newcomer deliberately hurt Sora to bait him into defeating more Heartless, and Maleficent appeared to buy them time to escape, which they didn't. In the end she forceful sent them off the world into the darkness, where a figure in a black coat left them a box with a picture and some ice cream. The ice cream opened the next destination. Sora was reluctant to use the Keyblade if it would help the Organization, but Goofy reminded him that if he didn't the Heartless would hurt people.

For a time they revisited worlds looking for more clues and a way to the nobodies' world, but often found themselves dealing with the Organization and the Heartless they pitted Sora against. Other times it was problems simply within the world with their friends. But finally they found their way back to Twilight Town again and on Goofy's suggestion sought out the manor from the picture they had received earlier.

They found Hayner, Pence, and Olette unconscious outside of the manor and the told them they had been investigating the possibility of an alternate Twilight Town. A bunch of Nobodies attacked, but Mickey appeared to help them out. Between all of them, they were able to get to the other Twilight Town and the Realm of Darkness through a computer, but were attacked by many Nobodies. Axel came to their rescue, but sacrificed himself so they could go save Kairi.

In the Nobodies' world, Donald and Goofy were corner by Nobodies and Sora vanished. They defeated the Nobodies and Sora eventually reappeared, apparently having had another run-in with an Organization member. They made it into the castle, but Mickey ran off on his own. Saix confronted them first, summoning countless Heartless to force them to fight. Kairi and Riku, in Ansem's form, helped them fight though and they had to deal with another Organization member, Xigbar from the Land of Dragons, before reuniting with the two. When they did and understood what had happened to Riku, everyone agreed it was time to finish the battle and that Riku was still Riku.

Further in most of them were captured by Luxord, from Port Royal, and Sora had to defeat him alone to save them. Next was Saix, who the three of them defeated while Riku kept Kairi safe. Before they reached Xemnas, they all witnessed the sacrifice of Ansem the Wise. Riku regained his form, and everyone confirmed that they were his friends so he hadn't needed to do so much alone.

Countless Heartless were beginning to invade the castle, drawn by the hearts of Xemnas' Kingdom Hearts and adding more urgency to their mission to stop him. Pete and Maleficent, though for selfish reasons, confronted the Heartless to let them get to Xemnas. Xemnas made Sora vanish for awhile, and when they both reappeared, Xemnas invoked the powers of Kingdom Hearts to gain entrance to it. A giant door appeared after he disappeared inside, and Mickey, Sora, and Riku opened it with their keyblades. When they entered Xemnas managed to separate them, with Kairi and the King being locked out while the rest of them fought. They defeated him but had no way home until a dark portal opened for them. Everyone but Riku and Sora got through and was transported to the Destiny Islands, and when Sora and Riku finally arrived everyone greeted them joyfully. Eventually though they returned home after saying goodbye.

After returning to the castle with Donald, Jiminy, and the King, it was decided to use a computer to analyze the journal, which had had a mysterious message appear. When they tried it turned out there were a lot of bugs and when Goofy mentioned that it was a shame they couldn't get in there to clear them out a data version of Sora was chosen to do so. For most of this, Goofy was an observer, but when Data Sora appeared in the castle library with them, Data Riku appeared to explain more about the situation to the, as well as the fact that he had uploaded them into the computer as well.

Their connection to the real world was cut by someone else, but Data sora offered to help them get home as he continued to travel through the journal. When his Keyblade was shattered by Maleficent, who had entered the journal via Pete after the latter had accidentally been brought, Sora was determined to help anyway because Riku had been taken by them. Both because Data Sora was now their friend and because they were tired of sitting on the sidelines, Donald and Goofy caught up to him in Hollow Bastion and protected him. Eventually they were trapped by Pete and their lives were in danger, but Data Sora gained a new Keyblade and saved them. Afterward they saw Sora enter Riku and purge him of the bugs that had been used to corrupt him.

Finally the data version of Sora's Heartless was purged and their way home was opened. They learned that the journal would be reset and their new friends would forget them, but it couldn't be helped. Data Riku found soon after that he hadn't been reset, and contacted them with new journal discoveries. they needed Data Sora's help again, but since he had no memory King Mickey reentered the journal to guide him. This time Donald and Goofy stayed behind.

Soon after the journal situation was resolved, it was decided that sora and Riku would receive a mission to take the Mark of Mastery. Goofy went with Mickey and Donald to oversee the test, but when Maleficent took Queen Minnie hostage the three of them quickly went home to help. Maleficent wanted the journal, but they were helped by Axel before she could force them to give it to her. He wanted to become a Keyblade Master as well.

Later, Riku had to save Sora from the new Organization, and Donald and Goofy later followed with Axel, now going by Lea, because they were not sure things were okay when Mickey also went. They arrived in time to help and they all escaped, but Sora was close to being lost to darkness. Everyone was forced to wait as riku dived into Sora's dream to save him, then they all witnessed as Riku was named a Keyblade Master and they had a party to celebrate.

Yen Sid has asked that Kairi be brought for training and Sora had decided he needed to do something in the realm of sleep in the meantime.
